In some contacts, the pads may stop the chain. In other contacts, the pads will resist the cutting process only for a fraction of a second. The actual degree of protection afforded will vary with the speed of the chain at the time of contact, the power of the saw, and similar factors. Severe personal injury can result from contact with the chain of your chainsaw despite use of these boots. These boots are not intended to be a substitute for good safety procedures in the use of your chainsaw. If the protective pads of these boots are damaged or cut, the cut-retardant qualities of the pads may be eliminated.
