Electric Start
The R420-18A has an electric key start system with wiring harness, starter motor and solenoid pre-installed so you can start the engine with the simple turn of a key. No more strain and effort of multiple recoil pulls, perfect for larger equipment where quick and reliable starts are critical.
The recoil backup gives you the flexibility of two starting options. With a transistorized magneto ignition for consistent spark, the R420-18A makes starting second nature.
Heavy Duty Performance
12.6 HP at 3,600 RPM and 17.8 lb-ft of torque at 2,500 RPM means the R420-18A is built for heavy duty use. The air-cooled, OHV design is more efficient and reduces heat buildup compared to side-valve designs, extending engine life and fuel economy.
The 1” keyed horizontal shaft makes it a direct replacement for equipment that requires a standard 1” mount, so it’s compatible with pressure washers, pumps, compressors and generators. Its rugged build and high displacement means consistent output even in tough environments.
Safety and Maintenance
The R420-18A has an automatic low-oil shutdown system to prevent damage in the event of low oil levels. This built-in safety feature protects your investment and extends service life.
Maintenance is easy and accessible with field serviceable components. The spark plug, air filter and carburetor are all designed for easy reach so minimal downtime when service is required. Fuel and Oil
For best results use regular unleaded 86 octane or higher. Ethanol-free fuel is recommended for maximum life, but ethanol blends up to 15% are acceptable.
The engine requires 1.1 L (1.16 US qts) of oil. The splash system ensures proper lubrication and regular oil checks are recommended to maintain peak performance.
